Mid Berks Ramblers is a Ramblers group in Berkshire Area. It represents an area to the south and west of Reading, as far as Woolhampton in the west, and south to the Hampshire borders. However, our walks often take place outside our designated area, and our members are drawn from a wide area.
Our groups help local people enjoy walking and protect the places we all love to walk. Most groups organise regular walks led by local experts – a great way to get outside, make new friends and discover how walking boosts your health and happiness. You’re very welcome to try walking with us, or to get involved in looking after paths and green spaces and opening up new places to explore. All are welcome on our walks - you need to bring a packed lunch etc for walks more than 5 miles. Parking tends to be roadside or in car parks - car sharing is encouraged but you need to arrange this yourself. We do not currently have walks suitable to people with mobility problems although we have started shorter 'strolls' and these will be included soon. Below are some questions we have been asked in the past.
Are there any age restrictions in this group?
No, all ages are welcome so long as they are fit to undertake the walks at a reasonable pace.
Do I have to join the group to come on the walks?
Generally the walks are open to members of the Ramblers. If you are not a member you are still welcome to join us for two or three walks, but after that we would ask that you join the Ramblers (see here for further information) - don't forget to ask for the Mid Berks Ramblers as your home group!
How much does it cost to join the Ramblers?
Membership rates can be found by clicking here.
Do I need any specialised equipment or clothing to come on the walks?
The Ramblers' advice on this subject can be found by following this link. If you're just getting started, and particularly if you're trying to get more active by walking more on an everyday basis, then visit the Ramblers' Go Walking pages for a wide range of useful advice and information.
Can I get a printed copy of the walks programme?
We no longer provide a printed programme. Group members can receive the programme via email. If you are associated with another group and would like a copy of our walks programme, then this can be provided - please contact our group secretary.
How do I report a problem that I've found with a public footpath?
There's more information on reporting footpath problems on our Contacts page.
